Lament of the 1%

Lament was written during the 99% protests.  At that time there was a counter idea that said that the 1% really had it hard too.  I found this idea that the rich had it so tough ridiculous and that stupidity is the genesis of the song. 

Rise Above It

Rise above it was written several years ago.  It was originally about partisanship during the early days of the Obama administration but by the time it was finished we had just had the election of 2016.  The video below helped channel my anger over what happened throughout the election.

Everybody on the Dance Floor

The book and movie "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" is about a depression-era dance marathon and is the inspiration for this song. The contest is a metaphor for life and takes a pretty grim view.  But, whatever, let's "Get up on the dance floor!"
